Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Macy Schuchart, CEO of Ancient Bliss, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am Macy Schuchart, a 25-year-old female entrepreneur. Solo Founder and Owner of Ancient Bliss, an herbal supplement company backed by indigenous wisdom and health science. My goal is to build a supplement company people can trust and bring the healing power of herbs that our ancestors used for centuries back to our busy modern society.

Every herb has a role to play in the human body and in treating/healing an ailment or disease. In fact, most pharmaceuticals are derived from herbs. Since there is little profit in what can be grown freely, it is interesting to see new drugs monetized and priced at high prices. This realization made me want to bring more accessible and affordable healthcare to people through herbs.

It's exciting because there is always something new to learn, and it is rewarding to help others heal along the way.

Tell us about yourself.

Most of my goals are created out of inspiration, and the discipline I implement helps me to get them complete (most of the time..) Because I am so passionate about Ancient Bliss, it is on my mind 24/7, and I am constantly working to improve it/make it better.

I also put everything on the line (I quit my prior job and put all my money into it), so I gave myself no option but to succeed. I think that helps me a lot with the Discipline part; knowing failure can't be an option. I'm motivated each day because I know I am helping people heal and "take care of their temple!"

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment will always be just doing it and following it through. I've had a lot of lows, and when I first jumped in, I didn't know how I would get to where I am today. In fact, I'm glad I didn't know because I would have been terrified to put the amount of money and time without an income into it. Navigating the lows and highs has taught me a lot about letting go of control and having Faith in the Universe. Holding a vision and being persistent till it becomes a reality is my definition of success!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You can't control the outcome; you can only control your reaction to it. I always read this one in self-help books, but it was a lot harder for me to implement it when it came to the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship. Many things go wrong, and when you have everything put into your business, it can be really scary. I realized stressing literally changes nothing, and things usually tend to get better. My "aha" moment came when I realized I could turn off my feelings of "doom" and just enjoy riding out the wave.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't force an idea; there is no rush... Just think of the things that inspire you and take the time to do them. Taking the time to do the things you enjoy will allow the ideas to flow in. When the idea comes to you, you will know.
  2. When you get the idea, act on it. That's when it has the most power, so just start. Ideas hit the grave the second after you think about them, so write them down and take your first step.
  3. Hold the vision! You don't need to know how to do what you are doing; just visualize your success. What you visualize will soon turn into your reality.
