What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business helps parents and teenagers by teaching teens how to write killer essays that win acceptance to college and graduate school, plus scholarships and A grades.

Tell us about yourself

The idea for the business originated when I was a classroom teacher at a highly competitive high school at Northwestern University; the frustration I saw from my students as they struggled to truly understand "what makes good writing" to earn "A" grades on essays and get into their dream college. The motivation each day to do what I do stems from being a part of turning tears into smiles and worry into inspiration as students gain clarity, earn excellent grades, and get into their choice college, as well as get along better with their parents!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Winning finalist for Charlotte, NC Women Rising Star Business Owner of the year 2021 and 2022, and continuing to double my client base, repeat customers, and gross revenue every year.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Get help when you cannot complete something by yourself. You must invest in your business to grow, just like you invest in your children for their growth.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Action creates clarity. Take inspired action every day.
  2. Write out your 90-day goals, one-year goals, and three-year goals.
  3. Get comfortable with the uncomfortable.
