AmeriCapital Solutions

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rodney Wood, Owner of AmeriCapital Solutions LLC., located in Roseburg, OR, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a business loan broker and funding facilitation company for very small to very large USA businesses. Our focus is on capital solutions that are tailored to fit a company's unique needs for both the short-term and the long-term.

Tell us about yourself

I worked for 25 years as a chef and restaurant manager for seasonal resorts all over the United States, from Alaska to Florida. I often lived in one place in the winter and a new location in the summer. After I got married four years ago, I needed to find a way to work less chaotic hours. COVID knocked down the restaurant, resort, and hospitality industry, which sealed my need to make a career change. I met my current business partner, who had been in the business loan industry for many years and also owned a well-established property and casualty insurance agency in Florida.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I suppose my biggest accomplishment is to go from knowing nothing about my current industry literally prior to 2020 to now helping businesses acquire millions of dollars in funding in 2022. Many fail in this business, but through perseverance and a determination to be a person of honesty and integrity in an industry filled with others who do not have those qualities, I am making a name for myself and establishing many good long-term business relationships.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

You constantly have to be adapting to changing markets and a changing economy. We are also in an industry in which the laws and regulations are constantly in flux, and we have to stay abreast of them to remain legal and legitimate.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't let failures keep you down. If I had not failed at about 100 other business ideas, I would not have learned all the things that are making me successful in my current business. Any legitimate road to success in anything is going to be paved with many failures.
  2. Constantly educate yourself, investigating the business environment of the USA with an open mind.
  3. Be humble and approachable. Even arrogant people dislike other arrogant people. Humility is not a weakness. It is a profound, quiet, calm inner strength. It gives you an advantage over your competition and is closely connected to wisdom. Wisdom and the gaining of wisdom are catalysts to success in anything.
