Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Allie Mirosevic, Founder of Bliss'd Co - Journals & Self-Care, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Bliss'd is a self-care shop that helps women live more fulfilling, joyful, and connected lives through the power of journaling and self-care.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a journaling and self-care enthusiast. I started my business to help other women live more fulfilling, joyful, and connected lives through the power of journaling and self-care. Our debut product, the Anytime Reflection Journal, was born after the birth of my first child when I experienced PPD, and my therapist suggested journaling (and meds!!) as a way to work through it. Both helped immensely - and I found that I really loved journaling, and it stuck long after I finished the medicine. However, I had a hard time finding a quick, easy-to-use, anytime-guided journal, so I decided to create one! I also have 2 other journals in the works that I'm excited to launch soon - both born out of my need to feel more connected to myself and my family post-motherhood. I really love what I do - and I truly believe in what I'm creating and how it can help people. That keeps me motivated day in and day out!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm really celebrating the small accomplishments that are keeping me going! My brand is starting to get momentum in the form of partnerships, collaborations, and press, and that's helping to get more views on my website - and more sales of my product!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest part has been tuning out the outside noise and opinions that come with business ownership. Not everyone will understand your dream and path (and that's ok!), and you can't let it bring you down or second-guess yourself. I do a lot of work on my mindset and building trust with myself.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find and connect with entrepreneurs who inspire you via membership organizations, small business associations, and Facebook groups (free!), especially if you don't have many people in your circle in this space. This has been really helpful for me in both expanding my network for business opportunities. Also, in not feeling so isolated on the path of entrepreneurship - many of the people you will connect with have walked in your shoes before, and it's helpful and inspiring to see the other side!
  2. Have a tried and true self-care practice that helps you disconnect and recharge. It doesn't need to be anything extravagant but something that allows you to step away from the business and come back feeling recharged - journaling, meditating, walking, working out, reading, etc. I think this is also where mindset work can be really helpful, too!
  3. Get clear on your why and messaging from the start. I wasn't right away, and I felt a bit scattered. Once I had more clarity on my mission (my why) and my messaging, it became a lot easier to market my brand.
