What's your business, and who are your customers?
Allelo is a custom front-end user experience and interaction design firm. We serve climate tech companies working to enhance resilience and/or reduce GHG emissions.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a design anthropologist. I study the interactions between people and their environments, then use that information to design better. My co-founder and I started the business because we saw a need to innovate on the human-centered design thinking process. We saw an opportunity to help our clients think more broadly and systematically about the impacts of the products they are creating. I am motivated each day by our mission - to help create a more equitable, regenerative economy. I see the future as full of possibilities.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
So far, my biggest accomplishment is that, on the whole, I've been able to act with integrity.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Unlike other roles, even roles with a great deal of responsibility, as an owner, I am accountable for every aspect of the vitality of the business. Good organizations are made of people committed to a shared goal. Ours is no different. All of the people who contribute to Allelo are responsible for its success. It can sometimes be hard to think Allelo could disappoint them.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have fun with it. Play at least a little every single day.
- Don't make the perfect the enemy of the good.
- Surround yourself with people who think differently than you do.
