What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a multidisciplinary mental health services agency. We serve adults and teens, couples and individuals, and find quality counseling and medication management.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a therapist since 2011, and I opened up this agency with my business partner Nick in August 2019. What motivates me every day is providing a great environment for our clinical team so they can help their clients make a significant change in their lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Growing to a team of 33 (so far), all while having no debt and being very profitable.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The sacrifices in the early years. You lose a lot: time, friends, experiences, and opportunities. When you are goal-driven and work around the clock to make that happen, you also become disconnected from the world around you. Anyone getting into building a group practice should be prepared to sacrifice.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Never, ever, ever compromise on the quality of staff you want around you. You cannot build a successful business if you hire and retain poor employees.
  2. Be very clear on what you are trying to build, and do not deviate from that. If you are successful, many tempting opportunities will present themselves. Don't change course until you are completely done building what you set out to build.
  3. Don't lose your marriage or family to your business. No matter how important business relationships and goals are to you, ultimately, the ones that are most impactful and precious are your family.
