Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anna Hacker, Owner of ALL GOOD YOGA, located in Wien, Österreich, AU.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
As a yoga teacher, I create space and settings for my clients to BE. Meeting them in their individual physical, mental, and emotional state and supporting them on their journey back to a healthy intuitive feeling for their own needs. We often forget how smart, strong, and capable we are because we lose ourselves in negative affirmations, unhealthy routines, toxic relationships, and the noise that we are constantly exposed to.
My clients do the work. I hold the space and give them the right impulses. The ALL GOOD YOGA studio is part of a concept space in Vienna's 2nd district.
Tell us about yourself
I was born in Vienna and lived in Germany for a long time. My path seemed pretty clear and prescribed - high school, hotel management school, university for economics, internships with the best addresses. Love brought me to Hamburg, where I worked in an advertising agency for four years, supported a start-up in brand building and marketing, and worked for an esteemed magazine publisher.
In between 2 jobs and after a heavy break up - I started my Yoga Teacher Training. Without ANY intention to ever work as a Yoga Teacher. I just wanted to do something for myself. At some point, I found myself in meetings discussing rather put the lipstick on page 4 or 5 - and I just knew I could not do this any longer.
I quit my job, moved back to Vienna, and wanted to give the yoga thing a try. I do believe in the fact that if something is good and meant to be, things just come together smoothly. And this is how it was. A good friend of mine is renting a studio in her concept store, that just got available when I came back, I fell in love three weeks after with the father of my 1-year-old - Vienna welcomed me well!
The studio became the ALL GOOD YOGA base for regular classes, workshops, and events and was the starting point for my 3rd baby - the kind club that I co-founded in 2020 -a forward-thinking community combining movement with food, art, modern spirituality, travel, and mindfulness.
Being self-employed is not for cowards! Still, seeing clients in the studio, in private sessions, or on our retreat when they arrive and the change in their faces when they leave is what makes me proud and happy!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I officially opened the ALL GOOD YOGA studio in January 2020 (I sub-rented locations before), in March of the same year, we had the first lockdown in Vienna, and I had to adapt super quickly as all the big studios and chains came up with professional online courses very fast.
We made it through the pandemic, which is for sure a challenge I have not thought of having to face as a business owner, but something that brings me back down whenever I have a feeling of self-doubt or impatience.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Staying motivated and focused in your daily business while keeping up the speed around you. Many of the ideas and plans I have to get lost in my daily administration.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you´re not ready to jump - DONT. Entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster, and if you´re not willing to take the ride and work through the highest highs and lowest lows - no one will do it for you.
- Don´t overthink your idea - just start.
- Ask for help & feedback.
