Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alison Rothman, M.A., Founder of Embody Life Holistic Wellness, located in Boulder, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Body-Centered Holistic Empowerment Coach and work 1:1 with clients, facilitate INPOWER women's circles (both virtual and in person), run transformational women's wellness retreats, and am a podcast host. I consider myself a community liaison in many ways, as I am all about bringing humans together in intentional ways to grow, heal, and empower ourselves as individuals, which naturally ripples out to the collective. I work with both men and women who are ready to create new pathways of living and being in their lives and are ripe to do the work essential to create sustainable and embodied change. I always say that my work is not a quick fix but demands a willingness to do work outside of our sessions, a commitment to oneself, the openness to getting comfortable in the discomfort of human life, and a sense of trust in the process. I am with those who are truly ready every step of the way.
Tell us about yourself
I have been seeped in the world of holistic wellness for over 25 years, and through my own healing journey of recovery from a life-long eating disorder, subsequent high trauma, and a near-death experience, I have gained insight into what it feels like to heal, grow, and change oneself from the inside out in a sustainable and empowered way. I am beyond passionate about empowering humans to live a life of authenticity and depth. To heal from their past so that they can open to the beauty and love of this precious human life. I am passionate about alleviating the suffering of humanity, one person at a time. :)
I have 25+ years of study and experience in somatic healing arts and therapy, yoga and meditation, authentic embodiment, and holistic healing. Through my extensive studies, practices, and experiences, I provide clients and students with the ability to tap into their innate inner resources and release debilitating life patterns to access their truth, power and reclaim their body, mind, heart, and soul connection. I live in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, with my partner, Michael, and my 13-year-old son.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am so proud of how much my business has grown over the past few years. Things could have really tanked in the thick of COVID, but I stayed steady and consistent and felt as though I had found a sweet spot. I love what I do and am excited to see how these next years unfold.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Staying consistent, letting go of expectations, and being in comparison to others.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Follow your heart.
- Honor your passion and trust your impulses.
- Do not allow any naysayers to impact you.... stay steady, consistent, and strong in yourself.
