Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alisha Carlson, a Non-Diet Lifestyle Coach, based in Corvallis, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I provide Life and Health Coaching for ambitious and driven women.
Tell us about yourself
Initially, I started coaching after going through my own fitness/ life transformation. Noticing how confident I became and how much more I was getting out of life and, in general, just showing up as a better wife and mom, I wanted to be able to give that to other women. Women are amazing; we wear so many different hats in our day-to-day lives. However, we can, at times, put a lot of pressure on ourselves to do everything with excellence, perfectly, or well. We can, at times, end up neglecting our own well-being or needs as a result. I love seeing my clients not only take care of themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically but also see that the investment they made in themselves ends up being an investment for their families and businesses as well. It really does ripple out into the rest of their lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Not that I can take full credit for this by any means, but my biggest accomplishment is seeing my clients succeed, seeing them accomplish their goals, and getting what they came for is the best win in my book.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Honestly, just learning the ins and outs of running your own business can, at times, feel like a job in itself. But, like anything else, if we can see the challenge as good for us, we will rise to the occasion and just keep going until we figure it out.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Just start. Start with what you have. You likely need far less than what you think you do, kind of like when you have a baby. You get all the fancy stuff, then find you didn't really need it after all.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Have fun along the way, and learn to love the process of figuring out how to start and grow your business. And celebrate all of your successes (big and small) along the way! That can help keep you engaged and motivated along the way when you don't see the results coming yet.
