Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emily Johnson, Founder of Align with Emily J, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Burnout Prevention and Recovery Coach. High-achieving professional women want to strengthen their mental health, lower stress levels, and increase energy.
Tell us about yourself
I started my entrepreneurial journey when I left Corporate America to pursue an interest in Nutrition. My curiosity soon turned into a fiery passion for supporting women on their health journey. My love has guided me to focus on the mental aspect of wellness supporting high achievers through burnout and strengthening their mental health.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been my development journey. Entrepreneurship is the ultimate self-worth test, and you must be honest with yourself, be open to different perspectives in business - the woo-woo stuff, for example, and not be afraid to invest in yourself - strengthening your money mindset is very important.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The roller coaster of stress you experience as a business owner when you are just starting. The first two years of business felt like a hardship - because it was! But I grew tenfold by starting a business. It's all been worth it to build my dream business around my life.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Build your business around how you want your life to look, don't build your business based on your business running your life. For example, what are your priorities in life? Please make sure they align with how you structure your business.
- Start a journaling practice - you are 40% more likely to achieve a goal if you write it down. You must be comfortable reflecting, dreaming big, and not being afraid to talk about your business as if it's already a successful entity.
- Invest in yourself physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally - YOU are the business at the end of the day. It would help if you took care of yourself because your business directly reflects you.
