Real Answers for Your Issues - Align Online Physical Therapy
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrew Haley, founder, and owner of Align Online Physical Therapy, located in Minneapolis, MN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business was created to help people dealing with neck pain and dizziness. I believe it fills a major gap in our healthcare system. After dealing with these issues personally, I understood how devastating it could be for someone.
Too often, people are told "everything's normal" and sent away from their Doctors' appointments feeling confused and defeated. AlignOnline is my solution for giving people quality care and daily guidance in a way that's accessible (being completely online, it can be done anywhere).
Most of my customers are people who are super motivated to be healthy, be able to work out, play with their kids, go on trips and live the life they used to. They are typically really frustrated by a lack of answers and results by the time I first meet them.
Tell us about yourself
My definition of health is "the ability to do the things that make us happy and give us our sense of identity." For anyone who has ever dealt with a serious health issue that changes what their life looks like, you know how hard this can be mental. What motivates me each day is to help people get back their life. To hear about them going to that music festival with friends, being able to drive again, being able to take their kid to the playground. The biggest joy for any healthcare provider is seeing the results patients achieve.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to turn my passion into a profitable business! It was a lot of hard work and very uncertain at times, but I've been able to provide a service I truly believe in and make it work finically.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Lack of skills with the marketing, copywriting, and sales aspect of owning a business. Before this, I had never owned a business and had zero experience with so many of its critical pieces of it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Business plans are boring and not always super helpful. The things you need to have, though, are a clear marketing plan and ideal customer, a clear product/service, and a fee schedule that will meet your financial goals with a reasonable number of visits/hours spent each week. So much is learned as you go, but getting really clear on those things before I started would have been a huge help.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Cliché but true, you are never going to be completely prepared to start a new business for the first time. So much of it is learning as you go, adapting, and trying to add new skills.
