What's your business, and who are your customers?
The name of my company is Alfa Pride Financial, and my firm is a consulting and financial services agency. I provide financial planning services and insurance products to individuals, families, and businesses through my platform.
Tell us about yourself
After 12 years as an HR professional, I decided to pursue a new career in financial services which would offer me the flexibility to be there for my family when they needed me and to continue helping people in my community. I've always been interested in entrepreneurship but wanted to be in a type of business that was about helping people. Financial services allow me to do that as well as satisfy my passion for being an educator.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is building my firm up to a level where I can service clients all across the country and offer a wide variety of solutions to help people improve their financial situation.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is staying current and adapting to change. The business world is constantly evolving, and it can be difficult to keep up with changes in technology, laws, and market trends.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Develop a solid business plan: A well-researched and thought-out business plan is crucial for success. It should outline your business objectives, target market, competitive analysis, marketing and sales strategies, and financial projections.
- Develop good sales skills: Sales skills are essential for generating revenue and growing your business. Business owners with strong sales skills are better equipped to close deals, increase sales, and build long-lasting customer relationships. Sales skills are essential whether you are a product or service-based business. Two excellent books to read to develop sales skills are "How to Master the Art of Selling" by Tom Hopkins and "The Psychology of Selling" by Brian Tracy. These two books are great places to start developing your sales skills.
- Focus on customer satisfaction: Your customers are the lifeblood of your business, so it's important to understand their needs and exceed their expectations. Regularly gathering customer feedback and using it to improve your products and services can help you build a strong reputation and grow your business.
