Tell us all about your business...

I work with motivated individuals and teams to inspire and create personal growth to advance their professional development, on their terms.

What's your background and motivation to get into the solopreneur life?

The true origins of my business started after a difficult break-up and my desire to start a new career. I was lucky enough to be able to take time and space away from the frustration. After I had started my next chapter the idea of giving other people this opportunity to take a breath, look at things from a different perspective to move forward with confidence and clarity was born.

As a business owner, what does success ultimately mean to you?

The fact that I am doing it. When I started my official Coaching journey over five years ago, there were a lot of skeptics and people who didn't believe that I could make this into a business. The fact that one of these skeptics has recently been a client of mine (!) is an accomplishment that proves that I am on the right track.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a business owner and as someone who coaches entrepreneurs, clarity is one of the biggest challenges. When there is a lack of clarity the knock-on effect of lack of direction and focus quickly follows. When you are a small company or a company of one, there are so many hats that you need to wear.

And it is having that clarity on which hat to wear consistently that is truly going to advance the business. That is one of the hardest things to action over the long term.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a business today?

1. Be prepared to play the long game. As much as people may wish that there is a silver bullet to success. There isn't. Once this is accepted, there is freedom and joy in focusing on the journey rather than the destination.

2. That it's better to make mistakes than do nothing. Perfectionism is a constant topic amongst my clients. Done truly is better than nothing. Focus on progress, not perfection.

3. Don't do it alone. You need a business support network. Network and build a small community of like-minded individuals who can appreciate the challenges and rewards of being in business.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

I now purposefully block exercise and self-care time into my agenda. It is no longer negotiable. It is something that helps to motivate me and renew my energy. Once I started prioritizing this, I was able to be more focused on my clients and growing my business.

Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and best business resources/books?

The Big Leap by Gaye Hendricks is a great book. It really helped me to realize I was setting upper limits on my business, my confidence, and my finances. I definite recommendation to those who are looking to take the next step.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I always knew I wanted to be my boss, I just had no idea what my business would be. The journey so far has been so long, hard, and frustrating but as the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger, this is only serving to motivate me more and perhaps even start planning the next tunnel.

My drive is to make you feel the same. To motivate, empower and facilitate truly sustainable action. That might not sound glamourous, but if you're ready for the challenge...roll your sleeves up, there's work to do!
