Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Musa AbdulRahman, Founder of Al-Rahma Hijama Center, located in St. Louis Park, MN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are an Islamic faith-based Spiritual Holistic Treatment center providing an ancient traditional Islamic medicine known as Hijama Cupping Therapy. Practiced by other cultures around the world for over 5000 years, Allah (the most exalted) instructed the angels to recommend Hijama Cupping to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his community during the night journey known as "laylat Isra wal Miraj." Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said: "Hijama Cupping is the best treatment with which you treat yourselves."

We serve a wide variety and range of clients nationwide. Our customers are both Muslims and non-Muslims, irrespective of their origin, background, religion, or condition. Though those we serve are primarily Muslims, we've recently witnessed an increasing number of non-Muslims seeking non-invasive alternative healing and recovery methods available to them as part of what we provide.

Tell us about yourself

I am a revert to Islam who discovered Hijama Cupping Therapy on my path toward healing from a lower back acute shooting (sciatica nerve) pain which I suffered from for about ten years, restricting my abilities and mobility.

The discovery of Hijama Cupping Therapy helped me completely heal and regain freedom in my mobility. It inspired me to become trained and start a new career in this field, helping others in a similar situation on their journey toward natural healing.

Whenever people come to us, they always have the same statement: "continue doing what you are doing. It's very much needed." These words and the smiles on their faces encourage and motivate us each day to keep pushing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We've recently earned BBB accreditation! It's a step toward building continuous trust and adding value to our clients' lives.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Everlasting unrest! It's a melting pot between good employee hire and retention to dealing with suppliers, vendors, and clients. Trust me, it never ends.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient, and don't expect overnight growth.
  2. Stay away from detractors, be with optimistic like-minded people or get a mentor.
  3. Dominate your numbers accurately, and know and feel when it's right to scale up.
