Promoting Wellness and Independence for All Ages - Age Fit

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brooke Terilli, owner of Age Fit Physical Therapy and Wellness, located in Baldwin, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Age Fit is a Physical therapy practice in Baldwin, GA. Our services range from rehabilitation following injuries and surgeries to wellness and fitness programs for long-term health and activity.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a Physical Therapist for six years and have worked in almost every setting and with a very wide range of patients. The youngest I've worked with was three months old, and the oldest (so far) was 102. This is how Age Fit was born. I believe everyone should be able to do what they have to do and what they love to do across a lifetime. I specialize in geriatrics and balance and dizziness, but I love working with the wide scope of problems that walk through the door. Over time, I realized the traditional model of Physical Therapy was only a short-term solution in many cases, and there was a better way therapy could be done for long-term solutions. I strive to do better and offer that alternative model.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being the solution the community didn't realize they needed. By breaking past the traditional clinic model, I can help so many more people with their fitness and health ad focuses much more specifically on their goals, whether that's to optimize mobility and power for my CrossFitters and Powerlifters or to help a teacher get on and off the floor with her first graders, or to help someone with chronic pain be able to run again.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Marketing as an introvert. I love my one-on-one time with my clients, but pushing through the fear of going into the world and meeting new people all the time can be rough and takes a lot of motivational quotes and self-pep talks to get done.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a like-minded community in your area of business to bounce ideas off. Plenty of people have already "been there, done that."
  2. Be prepared for unexpected expenses and time out of your day. Have a Plan A, B, C, and D ready for your business and personal finances.
  3. Enjoy the journey. Bad days will happen, but it makes the good days and the outcomes well worth it!
