Maximize Your Independence - Adrianne Caporusso

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Adrianne Caporusso, Founder of Adrianne Health and Wellness, LLC, located in Sherman Oaks, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business name is Ageless with Adrianne. There are 3 models under this umbrella.

  1. The Timeless Aging Blueprint is a 12 Week Program designed for those aged 60+. I have a number of certifications, and my expertise is with those aged 60+.
  2. I run Fitness Challenges designed for those aged 20-60.
  3. 1:1 in-person or virtual personal training for all ages.

Tell us about yourself

I've always loved fitness. I had a former life working in fashion but didn't have the passion for all the crazy. Exercising was my outlet for all the stress. After I had my first child, I didn't want the fashion life anymore, and it was a natural progression for me to move into the health and fitness realm. I quickly became certified as a trainer and have moved forward from there.

I love working with people, so that motivates me. But when someone accomplishes something in fitness that they never thought they could do...that is the most rewarding thing on the planet. Watching someone do something that was so hard for them when they first tried it doesn't get better than that.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The program I created for those aged 60+ took me a long time to create. It took perseverance and tenacity, and there were many days I wanted to throw in the towel. Because of what I created, I have watched people aged 60+, some even in their 80s, make big lifestyle changes that have impacted their health, giving them a better quality of life as they continue to become more mature. Aging is no joke and not for the faint of heart. When someone at that more mature age is willing to listen and trust me, and they reap the reward of improved strength, balance, and cognition, I feel I've done something great for society. Active Agers aren't a drain on society (I've sadly heard this said many times). They have so much to offer well into their 80's and 90's. They simply need a system and tools.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is when it's yours, you don't really get days off. I'm always doing something to grow and improve myself and my business. I don't work all day every day, but I tend to do something work-related most days.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know what you're good at, and even when you're starting out, it's worth investing in someone to do the things that aren't your expertise.
  2. It's ok if it takes time for things to grow and develop. There's no rush. Yes, you need to make $, but that will come. Our society and social media make us feel like we're always behind and need to be doing this or that. But trust your gut and your instincts. You'll get there. You're right on time.
  3. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who will support you and be a good sounding board. Look for those people who are like you in their passion and their drive. Find them. Get a group that will help you set boundaries and allow you to bounce ideas off of them.
