Nine and Three Quarters Coaching - Adette Lacerte
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Adette Lacerte, Founder of Nine and Three Quarters Coaching, located in Calgary, AB, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an author, speaker, and life coach that uses the language and themes of Harry Potter in my coaching. My goal is to reconnect my clients with the magic that exists within them. Potterheads, Harry Potter fans, and youth 12+ are my target market.
Tell us about yourself
I am a 32-year member of Girl Guides of Canada and a long-time supporter of youth empowerment. Over the years, I noticed how many teens had disconnected from who they were as a child. I choose to focus my energy on empowering young people to reconnect with their inner magic and help them find their confidence and self-esteem to create magical lives for themselves.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
During the early stages of the pandemic, I noticed how much teens were struggling. I reached out to my guiding community to provide some support. From October 2020 to January 2022, I conducted 68 virtual self-esteem and stress management sessions for teens in the Girl Guide program across Canada.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I have found being physically disconnected from my clients during the pandemic to be the hardest thing. As a coach, being present and physically with my client enhances my client's results and strengthens the client-coach bonds. At the same time, I have learned so many valuable tools for working virtually; it has transformed what I am able to do and provide for my customers.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't use anyone else's measuring tape to gauge your own personal success. We all start at different spots with different resources and different ways of approaching life. Your success cannot be measured against anyone else.
- Learn how to do all the things you need to do to run your business before hiring someone else to take on the task. Yes, this means you need to spend a lot of time and effort learning new skills, languages, and ways of doing things. The result is that you are better able to hand off the right tasks to the right people in the right way.
- Make sure you have a strong community surrounding you. You don't have to do this alone. Find a community that resonates with you and that supports you in a way that lifts you up. I could not do what I do without my Guiding community and a few select network communities.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Learn to be fluid and let the universe guide you to where you need to be. I started out as a life coach, intending to just coach clients one-on-one. I was guided to write a book and a workbook. All my life experiences led me to be a speaker and workshop presenter. None of this was planned or forced. Sometimes we just need to let the inner magic guide us.
