Achieving the life you love - The Forgotten Art Project
Interested in starting your entrepreneurial journey in coaching, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with David Weaver, owner of The Forgotten Art Project, based in Washington, USA.
Tell us all about your business...
I specialize in helping entrepreneurs and small business owners create a business AND personal life they love. I do this by teaching them how to intentionally design their life so that they can drastically reduce stress, improve their health, make more money, and live a fulfilling life.
What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?
I've been an entrepreneur for over a decade now. I wanted to do something where I could help make a difference in the world while also creating fulfillment for myself. How that looks has evolved over the years but what gets me excited to wake up in the morning these days is helping others unlock freedom and potential.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Seeing breakthroughs happen with my clients. There is nothing better than seeing the light bulb go on when they see there is a whole different way things can be experienced.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?
The ups and downs I like to call the "emotional rollercoaster." It can be challenging to deal with the stresses that come from running a business. I struggled with this early on in my career. However, it has also been the source of one of my greatest breakthroughs. After learning from some amazing people, I now understand where this comes from and what I can do about it. I truly believe that learning emotional intelligence is one of the most important things we can invest in for ourselves.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?
- Take Imperfect Action
- Consistency is king - keep showing up
- Learn everything you can about emotional intelligence (hire someone to help you fast track this as soon as you can)
What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance?
I have an entire framework to set up my months where I flip the whole paradigm upside. Plan the things that are most important to me and my values, and THEN plan work. I also rarely work more than four days/week and spend as much time outside as possible. Pre-planning might be one of the most valuable things you can do to create more freedom. We started planning our entire year's vacations/trips/adventures ahead of time and have had more fun experiences than ever before. I could write a lot more on this.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Take time often to connect to your why.
