Tell us all about your business...

A healthy on-the-go restaurant chain. Starting in Montreal and globally, we have franchised two stores in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia; we are looking to expand even more. We cater to young professionals and just about anybody who loves clean food. We have reached a point; on a global scale where you do not need to educate people to eat healthy anymore; we offer that at a competitive price with fantastic service. We also export Canadian products all around the world! Our products range from maple syrup to locally grown snacks and drinks.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?

I started working on my business during my last year at university. I planned and brainstormed for a whole year which eventually led to menu engineering and creating the entire concept. My goal is to create a Canadian franchise that you can find across the world as a whole. I aim to bring people and cultures together, the Montreal way.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I always like to mention that failure is not the opposite of success but a part of it. I think my biggest accomplishment is failing at one point, then coming back more robust, and more importantly, learning that that is possible. I am still only 28 years old, and I believe the sooner you ‘learn your lesson,’ the better.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?

You, being your own boss, comes with pros and cons, just like anything in life. Business owners do not come home and forget work; our minds keep thinking and working… 24/7!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do not be afraid to fail- Do not let people's opinions bring you down nor pave your business' future- Be ready to give it you are all.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance?

Learn how to separate work from personal life. Keep a schedule with tasks you would like to achieve and tasks you have completed (or cross them out) – this should be done daily. It could also include your personal goals/charges- Set priorities whether it was for your business or individual abide by them. For example, a healthy lifestyle must consist of doing some physical activity at least 2/3 times a week.
