What's your business, and who are your customers?

4BR stands for Building Better Business by Referral. We are a membership-based organization that helps business owners network and grow their businesses by referral. Our members are small business owners, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and professionals who come together to support one another and to achieve greater success through belonging to our Community.

Tell us about yourself

4BR was started as a personal need to find a place to help grow my client base. In searching for that place, I wasn't finding what I was looking for, leading me to start my own networking referral group. That was back in 2010, and having worked in very structured professions, I found that 4BR fed a very creative side of my personality that had been locked up for years. I am motivated by seeing the success and growth experienced by my members every day. They are special people who have put their trust in the organization, which provides a sense of belonging to so many.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In the 12+ years that I've been a business owner, I am blessed to have made an impact on a few thousand others. They inspire me and keep me reaching for more opportunities for everyone to experience. Seeing their growth and seeing them reach new heights just makes me smile! It feels great!!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Wearing all of the hats, sharing the hats, pulling them back, and then doing it again. Not everything works like you'd like it to, and you have to be willing to fail, say, "Well, that didn't work," and then try again. It can be a lonely place/

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Have a Plan - Know what you want and why you want it, and then get started. Don't wait.
2. Be mentally prepared to be challenged in ways you can't imagine today. Attitude and Mindset are everything.
3. Keep going - don't quit. No one has promised you it would be easy. Fight for it and be kind to yourself. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart.
