Post Apocalyptic Clothing - 3ndolith
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Naz Sameni-Pour, Co-Founder of 3ndolith Inc., located in Richmond Hill, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
3ndolith is a women owned/operated clothing company striving to reimagine what it means to be sustainable in the current state of the world. An earth-centric fashion house focused on making versatile wearable art that is high quality and multi-functional.
Our customers care about the environment and want high-quality and unique clothes. They are daring fashionistas who like to make a statement and experiment with their style. They don't follow trends but rather want interesting & timeless designs.
Tell us about yourself
We are a team of 3 women (Maryam Samenipour , Naz Samenipour , Jacqui plonka). We have backgrounds in fashion & design and hope to come together on this project to not only create fashion but also help heal an industry that is not only one of the top polluters of our planet but also exploits people around the world. Action is the biggest form of protest, so we decided to lead by action.
We value the environment, workers' rights, and sustainable consumption. We are motivated by creating garments that make people feel powerful and guilt-free. We love to experiment with new ways of upcycling. Our biggest motivation is knowing we are helping undo some of the damage done by other companies/industries and cleaning landfills.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment is having repeat and loyal customers because no one can deny that nothing makes you feel better than knowing people wear your garments, love the quality, and want more. Other big accomplishments for this year include our first fashion week runway for FAT (Fashion Art Toronto), dressing stars such as Kehlani, and getting featured in print magazine publications such as Malvie magazine. But ultimately, it is our repeat customers that make it all possible.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing as a business owner is balancing work and personal life to get everything done. We have to play every role (designers, sewers, buyers, photographers, marketers, &, etc.) Especially when you are starting out, you take on a lot of things because you don't want to miss any opportunities. It's tough being an entrepreneur and not being at least a little bit of a workaholic or spreading oneself too thin. Finding the time to do everything and still trying to enjoy yourself in the process is the key to achieving balance.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Accept the help and opinions of others. Being open helps you grow as an artist/entrepreneur and see perspectives that you were not aware of previously.
- Talk to everyone about your business; you never know who you are talking to. You have to be your own biggest cheerleader and supporter, so don't be afraid to put yourself out there, and don't be discouraged.
- Believe in yourself and your idea, and just do it. Perfection will never be achieved as we will always be 20 steps ahead of our own journey. There is no right time but NOW.
