What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a franchisor. Our business model is professional imagery for real estate and business. Our target audience for new franchises are professionals looking to leave their job and start their own business. Our franchisee customers are realtors and business owners.

Tell us about yourself

I cashed out my 401k and quit my job of 22 years to buy into 360 Tour Designs; the scariest moment of my life and, looking back, the best decision I ever made. Freedom is always worth the sacrifice. Since this was my journey and still is today, I wake up every morning excited that I have the opportunity to help others achieve the dream of business ownership through training, establishing systems, and long-term mentoring.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Understanding risk. Risk is a character trait that is very difficult to develop but once understood and controlled is an amazing accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

People. I love our people and enjoy working side by side with them, but not everyone is a good fit. Recognizing this quickly and working with the team member to also recognize it and help them find work in their true passion is very challenging but always rewarding in the end for both sides.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start with a business plan that includes two years of financial projections.
  2. Outsource anything that you consider not a strength (bookkeeping, social, etc.)
  3. Seek help... it's always darkest before dawn.
