Better Numbers, Better Life - 120life

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ira Antelis, Co-Founder of 120life, located in Chicago, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

120life is the #1 drink for people with high blood pressure. There are about 120 million people in the U.S. with high blood pressure, and if not treated can cause strokes and heart disease. We have become a place where people can learn some simple ideas to help with their blood pressure issues, and our drink is extremely healthy.

Tell us about yourself

I had high blood pressure, and though my life has been as a music producer and composer, I realized that there was nothing out there to treat this disease. I kept reading about all these juices, teas, and vegetables that lowered your blood pressure. So I figured it couldn’t be that hard, and I ended up creating 120life. When you are helping others lower their blood pressure, you can also be saving their lives as lower BP means that there is less of a chance of heart disease or strokes.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The fact that we are a thriving business, helping many and still going strong 5 years after everyone told me I was crazy. Actually, everyone laughed, including my wife and kids, so it became a teaching moment that if you have a great idea and put your mind to it, you can achieve anything.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Diligence, details, and getting up every day to make the business grow. It’s all about the hours, as I always say. Every business has problems, so being open-minded, collaborative, and always realizing there is a way forward is important. Yes, there are many days that are difficult, but you keep going no matter what.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you have a dream, don’t let anyone talk you out of it.
  2. Do your research to make sure you know everything possible before launching.
  3. Surround yourself with people who are knowledgeable and take advice from those who have more experience.
